Snowbird Entry 18: Texting Language for Seniors shared by a dear friend but written by Anonymous Texting is a way of life for some, an embarrassment to the King’s English for others. Texting is an unknown disease to many in the elder generations and a travesty to writers of beautiful and meaningful literary works. But to the nerdy, computer-geekish senior citizens who like to tell it like it is in Wheel-of-Fortune phrases this list of texting acronyms hits the spot! So why not throw a string of letters at someone rather than repeat these words that brash ones will speak without a care? This list of texting acronyms was sent to me by my dear friend out in CA whose dear old dad sent it to her. She wrote of her dad, “he’s 75 years young and very young in mind and spirit. Gotta love his sense of humor to forward this funny read.” I’ll record it as written by Anonymous because I certainly am not ready for anyone to believe I came up with these! Anyone who wants to claim authorship, please do and we will happily give credit to you where credit is due! Why someone might think I understand these or heaven forbid, drop these in a note now and again myself! Surely I am far away from tipping this iceberg! I can not be ready for steady language like this now or several decades for that matter! Why I am an illegal alien here in the Land of Snowbirds! I am nothing but a died-in-the-wool young whipper snapper who was kidnapped her mother! Me, I’M NOT a senior citizen, not yet anyway!! Yes, my mother, kidnapped me and MADE like come to this land of snow white hair and eternal sunshine! She like most mothers, still ‘mothers’ even with me nearing the mid-life crisis range! She says I shall always be ‘her baby’ and decided she ‘needed’ me here in Snowbird land. Do you really think she ‘needed’ me? Yes, no, maybe. In reality she was trying to protect me from the frigidity and life in Kentucky’s icy and snow-ladened winter!! She was being a mother! Yeepee! I will toss some VIRTUAL SUNSHINE your way! So with all of THAT said, let me share with you, the readers of my Florida Snowbird Diary this useful list of texting acronyms for seniors.
